Pittasoft DR500GW-HD

We hope you’re hyped and excited this christmas! Our friends over at Pittasoft (South Korea) have announced they’ll be launching a new car / dash camera model. Welcoming the new addition to their Blackvue arsenal, the model titled DR500GW-HD is expected to be released December 2012. We’ll be shipping this item early to mid January 2013!. We’re offering an early bird special for the first 50 customers for only $390.00 which includes a massive 32GB memory card (normally 16GB)!! Follow link to make order -> Blackvue DR500GW-HD.

It’s been confirmed this model will not be replacing the Blackvue DR400G HD II, although its clear this new model will inherit the existing qualities of the Blackvue II with a new lens, black exterior trim and revamped cynlindrical construction. Lets just have a quick glimpse at the upcoming car camera:

This model is promised to be the latest technical innovation with some powerful features.   A noticeable difference (in comparison to the Blackvue DR400G HD II) are the new air grills / venting holes on the top and bottom of the unit aimed to lower the board temperature and reduce over-heating.

Another difference is the removal of the AV (Audio / Video) port on the side. This has been replaced with a Wi-Fi connectivity switch. The benefit of this Wi-Fi (Wireless) feature is that it will enable users to stream feed / playback recorded videos from the unit to a wireless compatible device (for e.g. smart phone). Pittasoft have promised support for Apple iPhone / iPad, Android, Windows and other cross platforms.

From what we see, the Wi-Fi feature is a fantastic addition addressing the needs of cross-platform compatibility. Currently, The Blackvue’s Seasons 1 and 2 only supports playback via a Android device. And of course, being a cynlindrical blackbox with no screen prevented users from playing back or reviewing their videos, thus requiring a portable media player or computer that supported microSD cards.
